This week is World Glaucoma Week. Glaucoma is a group of eye diseases that cause progressive damage of the optic nerve at the point where it leaves the eye to carry visual information to the brain. For which there is currently no cure. You can find out more at the following link: https://www.wgweek.net/what-is-glaucoma/
One review states that there may not be a cure but there is evidence from many studies that nutrition plays a vital role in human health with no exception to the eye. The following nutrients have been shown to support eye health; spinach contains high amounts of antioxidants/carotenoids; Lutein and Zeaxanthin (which have been found in high amounts in the eyes) Vitamins C, E and A and zinc, and omega 3 have also shown to be beneficial. I have put together a green smoothie recipe for you full of lovely nutrients and vitamins to support your eye health.
2 handfuls of leafy greens, such as spinach,
kale, swiss chard
1 handful of pumpkin seeds
Half an avocado
1 handful of cantaloupe melon or an apple or pear
3 chunks of cucumber
1 stick of celery
1 tablespoon of chia seeds
thumb sized piece of fresh ginger
1 teaspoon of hemp protein
